Capitol Care South is certified by State of Alabama Department of Mental Health, Division of Substance Abuse Services.

Our Mission:

To inspire, support, and treat individuals who suffer from Substance Use Disorders and their families to pursue ongoing personal growth and positive lifestyle changes.

Our Program:

Our group meetings are held on Monday at 5:00 pm. Appointments can be made for individual or family therapy during our normal business hours: Monday and Wednesday from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm; Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm; and the 2nd and 4th Saturday of the month from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm.
Program participation hours are dependent on the level of care recommended for treatment.

Who would benefit from the program?

Our model is designed for the adult client who is in need of alcohol and substance abuse treatment. Clients who are experiencing co-occurring disorders can effectively make use of this program, but may need additional mental health services. Capitol Care South serves communities in the Birmingham, AL area.

How the Program Works:

A client wishing to utilize our services must first complete a comprehensive biopsychosocial assessment. After the evaluation, a recommendation for treatment can be made. Placement in treatment is based on individual need.

The group cycle is facilitated by trained professionals in the field. Treatment includes, but is not limited to individual and group therapies, interactive discussions, and activities. The treatment model is highly structured and relies on evidence based practices.

The Group Sessions Include:

• Early recovery
• Relapse prevention
• Family education group
• Social support group

Other Services:

• Co-occurring disorders
• Urine drug screening
• Extended evaluation

Case Management

Capitol Care South provides case management services to assist individuals with improving and maintaining functioning and quality of life. Individual’s service needs will be evaluated and assessed, and include:
• Referral and access to providers
• Consumer advocacy
• Crisis intervention
• Transportation assistance
• Monitoring of progress
• Link to community resources

Treatment team:

The clinical team is made up of Licensed Professionals including the Clinical Director, Program Coordinator of Outpatient Services, Clinician, Case Manager and other agencies involved in the individual’s treatment.
